KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Officials with the Kalamazoo Growlers were able to convince city commissioners to restore dates for fireworks after the city initially balked at the team’s proposed schedule.
On Monday, they were convinced by Growlers Vice President Brian Calopy that the decision to move a shorter, smaller fireworks show closer to the crowd will make it just as entertaining for the fans while making it less of an annoyance for neighbors.
Commissioners unanimously restored the four additional nights of fireworks that had originally been proposed by the ball club.
Growlers management says they’ve already promised fans the fireworks would be part of their summer of entertainment when they sold season tickets.
Now, there will be post-game fireworks shows on June 10 and 24, and July 2, 4 and 26.
