LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo’s Lorence Wenke was in Lansing on Tuesday staging a very unique protest in regard to bills that that would require that Michiganders use the bathroom designated by their birth certificate.
The former state representative and Libertarian Congressional Candidate hauled a port-a-potty to the Capitol and decorated it with signs demanding that people who wanted to use it be prepared to “remove shoes, pants, and open all bags before entering bathroom. Please have your birth certificate ready for inspection.”
Wenke, who left the Republican Party three years ago because of the GOP’s position on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights, says it’s a civil rights issue.
Weinke is trying to unseat Fred Upton, R-St. Joseph.
