COOPER TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — The west Michigan man being held for killing five cyclists and wounding four others in a wreck north of Kalamazoo could face a judge as early as Thursday.
Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting is anticipating the 50-year-old will be arraigned Thursday, but is not sure about what charges he’ll face.
“I expect there will be charges,” Getting said. “What charges? We’ll have to let the police investigation sort that out.”
Getting is expecting investigators to submit their preliminary reports to his office in the morning. From that report, he will determine what to charge the suspect with.
He also says the Michigan State Police Crime Lab in Lansing will receive evidence from the scene of the wreck in Cooper Township at some point Wednesday morning.
The suspect remains in police custody.
It’s still not clear what prompted him to crash his pickup into the group late Tuesday.
