KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A routine traffic stop in Kalamazoo turned into a drug bust when the two occupants of the vehicle quickly got out of the vehicle and had to be detained.
Kalamazoo Public Safety got the driver to pull over around 9 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of West North Street.
A K9 reacted to the vehicle, suggesting there might be contraband inside. A search of the vehicle turned up at .22 caliber Ruger revolver under the driver’s seat and crack cocaine in sufficient quantities to suggest it was for sale and not just personal use in the passenger seat. They also seized cash.
The driver, who was already out on a circuit court bond for a previous gun charge, is now being held for carrying a concealed weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm, attempted resisting and obstructing and driving on a suspended license.
The front seat passenger was arrested for possession with intent to deliver crack and attempted resisting and obstructing.
