LANSING (WKZO-AM) — The Michigan House Appropriations Committee has done something more than just memorialize Public Safety Officers who die in the line of duty, just as the nation is to mark the 15th anniversary of 9-11.
They have reported out legislation that will provide extended healthcare coverage for the surviving spouses and their dependents.
Kalamazoo State Rep. Jon Hoadley of Kalamazoo says it’s the right thing to do.
The State Senate had already approved the bill unanimously.
Hoadley, who is a member of the Appropriations Committee says the bill is expected to get a vote from the full house this coming week.
Kalamazoo area Police and Fire Departments will participate in the annual 9-11 memorial service in Bronson Park at 4 p.m. Sunday.
