MARSHALL (WKZO-AM) — The newest member of the Marshall Fire Department has a special skill set that will make him a valuable addition to fire agencies in a six county region.
Bingo the K-9 has been trained as an arson dog. State Farm Insurance paid for his training, which makes it possible for the dog to determine if liquid accelerants, like gasoline or lighter fluid were used to get a fire at a house or business started.
He will be based in Marshall and primarily work fire scenes there, but he will be available to fire marshals in Calhoun, Kalamazoo, Barry, Eaton, Jackson and Branch Counties when they suspect a fire may have been set intentionally.
Bingo was introduced Friday.
