KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — A Kalamazoo man has been given life without parole for the shooting death of Edward Bell, who died a hero.
Police say that Bell pushed his sister out of the way, taking the bullets that were meant for her.
George Mack had been dating Erica Bell, and she claims he eventually became abusive. It all came to head in August of last year when the Bells were trying to change the locks on her home on North Rose to keep Mack out, when he showed up with an assault rifle.
After the killing, Mack fled to Nevada, where he was captured and returned to Kalamazoo.
A jury found him guilty of first degree premeditated murder last month.
