BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A fire at a residential structure in the 100 block of Oneita Street in Battle Creek on Saturday is being blamed for causing about $35,000 damage to the structure and contents of the home.
The fire broke out at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday and caused heavy damage throughout the main floor of the home. A firefighter also suffered minor injuries.
The place was unoccupied at the time of the fire, but the first responders did not know that and sent a team in to attack the flames and look for survivors.
The fire marshal is looking for the cause.
