CALIFORNIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A two vehicle collision involving an Amish milk wagon covered the intersection of Ray-Quincy and Brown Roads in Branch County’s California Township with spilled milk Friday morning.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says the accident was reported at about 9:45 a.m..
They say 20-year-old Kimberly Walkup of Allen was heading north on Ray-Quincy Road when she looked at the map on her cell phone for just a couple of seconds. When Walkup looked back up she steered to avoid hitting the milk wagon driven by 18-year-old Chris Eicher of Quincy but she struck the back of it causing the milk cans that were just picked up from an area farm to spill.
The horse was not injured. Both Walkup and Eicher complained of minor injuries. After the investigation, Walkup was cited by the Sheriffs Department.
A Sheriff’s Department deputy directed traffic to help drivers get through the slick intersection.
