LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Secretary of State’s office and their online services will shut down over the President’s Day weekend and remain closed until Tuesday morning as they attempt another computer upgrade.
If it works, it should make renewing licenses and transacting other business with the state easier.
Secretary Of State Jocelyn Benson says it will replace decade’s old technology and she warns the transition once they are open again may be a bit bumpy as employees learn the new system.
They plan to waive late fees for anyone with an expiration date through March 2nd.
Once completed, you will be able to complete some routine functions, like ordering plates, renewing snowmobile registrations and other things without ever going near an office.
