PARK TOWNSHIP (WHTC-AM/FM) — Emergency responders rescued a 15-year-old girl from an ice shelf out on Lake Michigan yesterday afternoon, hundreds of feet from Idlewood Beach in Park township, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Buter.
They were called to the scene after someone heard a howling dog and realized it was the same seen walking with the girl earlier that day.
Park Township fire rescue used a drone to spot the girl
She waved at the drone’s camera, at which point Park township and Ottawa county water rescuers donned what’s called Gumby water rescue suits and walked out to the girl’s location, lowering a ladder for her rescue. She and her dog are fine.
