LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — From now on, thanks to voters last fall, all future voters in Michigan can ask for an absentee ballot without having to give a reason.
Until now they have only been given out to seniors, the homebound, jail inmates and those who could not get to their polling place on Election Day.
No-excuse absentee balloting was one of the reforms in Proposal 3 that passed by a huge margin last November. Contact your local clerk for details.
The Secretary of State has just appointed retired State Elections Director Chris Thomas and a group of local clerks to a committee to work out a plan to implement the other reforms in Proposal 3, which include expanded and automatic voter registration, among other changes.
