LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson plans to visit every one of her department’s 131 branch offices.
She started last week by playing “undercover boss,” going in disguised and unannounced to get a look at how it really is.
She says while she was impressed by the staff, she says it’s the customers and their less-than-elated faces that she has noticed.
She says she eventually wants to get to all of them to check up on the work of the employees and show that she is with them and there to help.
They have already upgraded all the computers and are making it possible to do many of the routine functions online.
She says part of her job will be retraining citizens to know when they have to go to a branch office and when and how they can avoid it.
