LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — The State Police have released their report on school bus maintenance and while some area school districts scored well, none of the big ones were perfect.
The State Police Inspectors put every bus through a 100 point inspection, for everything from engine performance to tire pressure to safety equipment.
They gave green tags to about 80% of school buses in the state, indicating they passed.
Of the 829 school districts they inspected,169 districts scored 100%.
In 64 districts, every bus was red tagged, or flunked.
96% of the buses passed in Kalamazoo and Portage Public Schools.
Only 75% of the buses passed in Battle Creek and Benton Harbor.
Coldwater school buses were just a few notches below that at 73%.
Marshall came in at 74%.
93% of the buses in Holland got a passing grade.
Lansing was nearly perfect at 99%.
