LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) —
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB) has announced that it will be coordinating the harvest of the official 2019 state Christmas tree in Iron Mountain, MI.
According to an official press release, The 61 foot blue spruce is being donated by Jordan and Sarah Wolfenberg and their family. Students from Iron Mountain Public Schools and Breitung Township Schools will be present during the harvest.
A brief ceremony will take place when the tree is harvested. The ceremony entertainment will include music performed by Iron Mountain and Kingsford banks, as well as statements from Iron Mountain mayor Dale Assandrini; Jordan and Sarah Wolfenberg; Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association representative Denny Olson; and a representative from DTMB.
The harvest ceremony will take place Thursday, Oct. 24th.
On Saturday, October 26th, the tree will be delivered to the Capitol. Boy Scout troops 109 and 125 have been announced as the groups that will untie the tree. The HI-Ball Company of Lansing will then volunteer a crane and crew to set the tree at the intersection of Capitol and East Michigan avenues.
