KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Teams of federal and state investigators are surveying damage from recent severe storms in Michigan.
That includes Allegan, Barry, Kalamazoo, Montcalm, Muskegon, and Newaygo counties.
FEMA spokesperson Cassie Kohn says they’ve been to about a dozen homes so far in Kalamazoo as they check out water damage in people’s homes.
Mattie Jordan-Woods is a well-known resident of the north side of Kalamazoo and says the flooding the area got last month was different than she had seen before, noting their basement had water for three days and got so high it overpowered the sump pump.
She said she is pleased to see state and federal employees investigating the damage.
