DETROIT (WKZO AM/FM) – The former longtime owner of Michigan International Speedway is taking ownership of one of the world’s most famous racetracks.
Penske Entertainment Corp. – a subsidiary of the Penske Corporation owned by Detroit businessman Roger Penske – is purchasing Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the NTT IndyCar Series and IMS Productions, according to an IMS and IndyCar news release Monday morning.
The 2.5-mile track is famous for the Indianapolis 500, which was first run in 1911. In addition to two annual IndyCar events, IMS also hosts the Brickyard 400 NASCAR race each year.
