SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is saying that they will continue to let visitors in free the day after Thanksgiving.
The DNR is offering free park entry on Black Friday, November 29. This is the fourth year the DNR will waive the Recreation Passport vehicle entry fee to allow access to 103 state parks and recreation areas. Despite free entry all camping, permit, and license fees still apply to those undertaking the activities.
This waived fee is part of the DNR’s #opt-outside campaign that serves to get families to visit Michigan’s scenic parks and trails.
The $11 Recreation Passport provides unlimited vehicle access to state parks, boat launches and state campgrounds.
The DNR notes that visitors to state parks and recreation areas on Black Friday should wear bright colors since the state’s firearm deer hunting season is underway until November 30th.
