ALLEGAN (WHTC-AM/FM) — Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the April 24, 2018 shooting that critically wounded a woman, according to an Allegan County Sheriff’s Office statement.
It was apparently accidental, but investigators say that doesn’t mean there were not criminal and neglectful elements.
John Allen Redaway, 45, and Allan Craig Troeger Jr., 26, were taken into custody.
Redaway has been charged with six felonies: use/discharge of a firearm while unde the influence, causing serious impairment; three counts of felony firearm; possession of a short-barreled shotgun/rifle; possession of a firearm by a felon; and as a habitual offender, according to the sheriff’s office.
Troeger faces three felonies related to firearms and a habitual offender charge, police said.
Police were call just before 4:44 p.m. to help a gunshot-wounded woman at 6777 103rd Ave. in Casco Township April 24.
Allegan County Sheriff’s deputies and Michigan State Police troopers found the victim, who was take by South Haven EMS to an unidentified hospital for treatment. She is listed in serious condition, according to police.
The Allegan Sheriff’s statement noted that the victim’s name will not be released at this time, adding that her injuries from the shooting “prevented her from making a statement.”
The investigation continues.
