BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Police Department has released a photo of the suspect in the robbery at the PNC Bank branch on West Chicago Street in downtown Bronson Friday morning.
Bronson Deputy Police Chief Brad McConn says the robbery was reported at about 9:50 a.m..
The suspect was described as an African American male who is about six feet tall.
He was said to be wearing a grey skullcap, grey hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bronson Police Department at 517-369-9083 or Branch County Silent Observer at 517-279-2000.
The Bronson Police Department is being assisted by the Branch County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Michigan DNR, and The Federal Bureau of Investigation.
There were reports that no weapon was displayed during the robbery but the suspect told people in the bank he had one.
There was no mention in the news release issued by Bronson Police of a possible getaway vehicle or which direction of travel the suspect went after the robbery.
Bronson school officials took precautionary measures in all of their buildings following the holdup as this was the final day of classes before the Christmas break. Staff members were placed at each door. In addition, students were not allowed to leave their buildings as the schools were declared “closed campuses”. Identifications were also checked on anyone who came into the buildings. Anyone who had to go outside was given an escort.
