KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Historic District Commission is currently looking to fill some vacant seats in its organization.
The group meets once per month and reviews changes to the over 2,000 historic structures in the city.
According to the City of Kalamazoo website, this board “advises the City Commission on historic preservation issues including the establishment of historic districts and landmarks and the nomination of such districts and landmarks to the National Register of Historic Places and the state register.”
At this time, the positions listed for the board online are as follows:
- 4 in total,
- 2 occupied,
- 2 vacant, and
- 3 becoming vacant.
According to the board website, the vacant positions available to apply for are a regular member, which does not require any additional qualifications; and a member as an architect or engineer, which requires the applicant to be a “Registered Structural Engineer or Architect.”
Members of the board serve 3 year Terms, limited to 2 Consecutive Terms, followed by a 3 year break.
A Twitter post from the City of Kalamazoo lists more information about the position: “The Commission meets once per month on the third Tuesday at 5pm in the Community Room at City Hall. You must live in the City of Kalamazoo to be eligible.”
