KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A new face is throwing her hat in the ring for one of the seats on the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners.
Democrat Keisha Dickason is hoping to keep Kalamazoo County’s District 9 blue later this year, as she prepares for a campaign to replace outgoing commissioner Christine Morse.
The 45-year-old candidate, who currently works with the Sieta Scholars Program at Western Michigan University, announced her bid over the weekend.
A native of Texas Township, she says her campaign will be based around promoting public health, environmental sustainability, and continuing development in the county.
Current occupant Morse announced she was seeking Republican State representative Brandt Iden’s seat earlier in the summer.
Dickason will hold a campaign kickoff party Old Burdick’s at Wings West on Friday, January 10th from 6 until 8 p.m. Event details can be found here and tickets can be purchased here.
