KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo City Officials voted during a meeting Monday night to pass a resolution increasing the salary pay of four different city positions.
According to city documents, the pay increase for each position is based on a performance evaluation system implemented by city officials. The program, known as the Behaviorally Anchored Ratings System (or, BARS), was introduced in 2018.
A score of 4 out of 5 represents a performance rating of “exceeding expectations,” while a score of 5 would merit an “Outstanding Performance” with a salary increase of 5%.
Four officials received a ranking of “4,” and thus will receive a 4% salary increase.
City officials voted to approve the following salary increases:
- City Attorney Clyde Robinson – $130,803.50
- City Clerk Scott Borling – $83,824.00
- City Manager James Ritsema – $172,948.30
- Internal Auditor Ann Videtich – $74,089.60
City documents note that the wage adjustments total $17,756.36 and are available in the General Fund Budget. The changes go into effect immediately on February 17.
