SAUGATUCK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — UPDATE: On Wednesday, WOOD TV 8 reported new details in the case of recently-discovered human skeletal remains in Saugatuck Township.
Allegan County Sheriff Frank Baker told WOOD TV that at this time, they cannot disclose which missing person that may be. He added that the department is waiting on DNA tests and autopsy reports before they can determine who the remains belonged to, as well as a cause of death.
He also said that while it is uncommon to find human remains, it is not unheard of.

UPDATE: Foul play is not suspected in the recent discovery of human skeletal remains in Saugatuck Township, according to a report from WWMT Tuesday.
Earlier this week, police announced that the remains were discovered Sunday by hunters in the area of 63rd Street and 134th Avenue. They later confirmed that they belonged to a human subject.
Allegan County Sheriff Frank Baker told WWMT that they are waiting for the snow to melt to make sure there aren’t more remains that need to be found. It is currently unknown how long the body was there, but it is expected to be determined after an autopsy is performed.
In addition, Sheriff Baker said that foul play is currently not suspected, and that situations like this are not uncommon.
Baker added that he would like to help bring closure to all relevant parties following this discovery.
