KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo County Government has announced that it will open County Buildings to the public by appointment only beginning Monday, June 1.
“The safety of Kalamazoo County residents, county employees and their families remains our top priority during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” Kalamazoo County Administrator Tracie Moored said. “We are eager to see the masked-covered smiles of Kalamazoo County residents in our buildings again, and it’s important to follow safety guidelines put forward by the State of Michigan to continue to flatten the COVID-19 curve.”
By appointment only, County buildings will open on June 1 with stringent safety measures in place for both employees and those visiting the building. Members of the public that are interested in scheduling an appointment should visit the County Government website for specific department contact details.
“While many of us are eager to return to some normal activities, it’s critical we don’t rush reopening our community — and that includes government buildings,” Health Officer James Rutherford said. “I urge all Kalamazoo County residents to continue doing their part to slow the spread of COVID-19, which includes wearing a mask out in public and practicing social distancing. By working together, we can help mitigate the spread of this disease and help protect our friends and neighbors.”
Data reported by the county Monday indicates that there are 836 confirmed cases with 119 hospitalized and 455 considered recovered. A total of 54 deaths are reported due to COVID-19.
“Kalamazoo County continues to review our safety measures and protocols to ensure they meet requirements by the state and federal government on the safe reopening of businesses,” Moored added. “We will continue to update the public on our efforts through the news media, social media and on our website.”
