HARTFORD TOWNSHIP (WKZO AM/FM) — Angry residents in Van Buren County got a chance to vent about the discovery of PFAS at a vacant industrial site in Hartford Township.
Most of their anger was directed at Du-Wel Metal Products, a firm that went under years ago and left the chemical contamination behind.
Members of the state’s PFAS Action Response Team found contamination that was well over 100 times safe levels in test wells at the plant site.
The city’s municipal water source tested clean for now.
They are conducting tests on 50 private wells near the plant site. Those results may be available next week.
