Oct 22 (Field Level Media) – NBC Sports lead golf analyst Kevin Kisner said he foresees Tiger Woods using his play in TGL as a springboard to more competitive golf in 2027.
It was announced earlier this week that Woods will compete for the Jupiter Links GC entry in TGL, the winter golf simulator league, with Woods taking Kisner’s spot.
Kisner, who is also a part-time player on the PGA Tour, said on a recent podcast that he was told Woods wanted to play a full schedule.
“Rob (McNamara), Tiger’s guy, he texted me a long text last week, I think, just telling me what they did on their decisions, how they were moving around and what players are going to do,” Kisner said on the Barstool “Fore Play” episode posted Wednesday.
Injuries, legal issues and time in a Swiss rehabilitation center earlier this year have kept Woods, 50, from playing in a pro tournament since The Open Championship in 2024.
Kisner said he anticipates Woods will play in the Hero World Challenge (Dec. 3-6), which he hosts in the Bahamas, and the PNC Championship (Dec. 19-20). If that goes well, he could target the Masters (April 8-11).
He missed the PNC last year because of back surgery, but he typically plays in that family event with his son, Charlie.
“He can’t have any more setbacks injury-wise, but the way he was swinging and moving on the range, the guy loves to compete,” Kisner said. “Come back, get your feet wet at the Hero, play with Charlie at the father-son, play some TGL, get ready for Augusta.”
