BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Battle Creek Public Schools have added weapon detection systems at Ann J. Kellogg Elementary.
The action follows a gun that went off in a third-grade student’s backpack on Tuesday.
No one was injured and police are investigating how the child obtained the gun.
The district tells families the weapon detection systems are non-invasive, but ask parents to drop their children off about 10 to 15 minutes early this week.
