KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Transportation Authority has won voter approval of a millage renewal to pay for their Metro Connect program.
Metro Transit director Sean McBride says their ridership continues to grow as the cost of owning a car continues to rise and more people rely on their system for basic transportation to work, school and other essential needs.
It passed with 65% support Tuesday.
McBride says while the request was a bit higher this time, it’s actually lower than their original request for 4/10’s of a mill in 2009.
The millage will cost a typical homeowner about $36 a year, most of which they are already paying.
