Speaker Hall says Canada “in over their head” on wildfires

LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – State House Speaker Matt Hall of Richland says Canada can’t manage the wildfires burning to our north on its own.

Hall says they “are in over their head, and they’re really going to need more collaboration with the United States” on a solution.

He says if Canada doesn’t cooperate on solutions with the U.S., he endorses congressional efforts and sanctions.

Hall adds the first step is asking Canadians to explain the situation to the state House and not yelling at them about it.

The smoke from over 900 Canadian wildfires has blanketed Michigan for the last week.
