KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Westwood Little League in Kalamazoo is asking for the community’s support after an act of arson caused more than an estimated $10,000 in uninsured damage to their facilities.
The organization says on the afternoon of July 8, two portable restrooms at their facility on Grand Prairie Road were intentionally set on fire, causing significant damage to fencing and the scoreboard. No one was injured in the fire, but the repairs are not covered by the league’s insurance.
They launched an online fundraising campaign Monday called “Rally for Westwood” to pay for the repairs.
Westwood Little League is a volunteer-run organization serving more than 500 local children each year. Registration fees, sponsorships, and fundraisers cover costs, but they say the unexpected loss of this size places a significant burden on their program.
