KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It’s back to class today for hundreds of Kalamazoo Public Schools students who have been assigned to summer school.
The summer courses are designed to help the a select group of students catch up to their classmates in key subject areas, because they failed to make the grade during the regular school year.
Superintendent Darrin Slade says moving up to the next grade may depend on how they do in the next few weeks.
Trustee Patti Sholler-Barber says it’s one of several ways they are offering extra help to students who need it.
Parents were notified months ago that their students had been assigned to the summer classes and are being asked to make sure they comply.
