KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Kalamazoo jury has found 47-year-old Vernon Powell guilty of second-degree murder in the September 2022 shooting death of 28-year-old Aaron Starling.
He was also convicted of felon in possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and two charges of felony firearm.
Powell is scheduled to be sentenced on July 13th by Judge Paul Bridenstine.
Starling was shot on September 3, 2022, in the 600 block of Portage Street.
He was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
