THREE RIVERS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – American Axle and the United Auto Workers have reached a tentative deal on a new contract after a ten-day strike in Three Rivers.
UAW president Shawn Fain says they have won “back nearly 20 years of struggle.”
Employees will have their pay increased to $30 an hour by 2030 if the contract is ratified.
Local 2093 bargaining chairman Josh Jager says the raise is over 36-percent to their top rate in four years and “will change the lives in Three Rivers and across southwest Michigan.”
The contract does not raise healthcare premiums for four years and has Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Veterans Day added as paid holidays.
