KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Washington D.C.-based Democratic research company says their new poll shows State Senator Sean McCann of Kalamazoo leading Republican incumbent Bill Huizenga in the race for Michigan’s 4th Congressional District.
GBAO Strategies says McCann leads Huizenga 48% to 45% in the poll of likely 2026 general election voters conducted May 28–June 1, 2026 via telephone using live interviewers and text message. The survey is subject to a 4.4 percentage point margin of error. 7% of those surveyed were undecided.
The congressional race is expected to be one of the costliest campaigns in Michigan, and is seen as a key battleground for as both parties look to control the U.S. House.
Republicans comprise 35% of registered voters, Independents comprise 35%, and Democrats comprise 30% in the 4th District, which includes a large portion of southwest Michigan, including the cities of Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Holland, St. Joseph, Benton Harbor, and the outer suburbs of Grand Rapids including Ottawa County.
