PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 32-year-old Mattawan woman will spend at least the next six years in prison after she pled no contest in April to driving while intoxicated causing death.
Sheila Kershner rear-ended a horse-drawn Amish buggy around 8 a.m. on March 26th, 2025 in Lawrence Township, killing eight-year-old Alma Yoder and injuring her brother, Joey.
Kershner was under the influence of several prescriptions at the time that police say were controlled substances.
She also pled no contest to driving under the influence causing injury and six other charges were dropped with the plea deal.
