LANSING, MI — Lansing-based Habitat for Humanity Capital Region has announced plans to sell off two of its three Restore retail properties across mid-Michigan.
The non-profit plans to consolidate retail activities to a single store in Lansing. It says the move will allow it to more effectively deploy financial resources. Properties in Williamston and St. johns will eventually be placed up for sale. The Lansing location at 1941 Benjamin Drive will continue operations.
“This is a data-driven and mission-driven decision,” said Brent Taylor, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Capital Region. “By simplifying our footprint, we can significantly improve the financial contribution that the retail operation makes toward mission-fulfillment while continuing to focus our time, energy, and resources on the work that matters most—serving our community and advancing affordable housing in the Capital Region. We view this as growth, not contraction.”
The focus will be on improving the customer experience, increasing inventory turnover and expanding its capacity to serve the community, according to the press release.
