KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo Public Library and the Disability Network Southwest Michigan have partnered up to launch a disability-focused book club.
Called the #DWord Book Club, it has a goal to change the conversation about disabilities and spread the message that disability is not a bad word.
The club started at the library’s Alma Powell Branch in 2024, started by manager Jade Woodridge.
She says she stutters and reached out to the Disability Network Southwest Michigan about starting the book club.
