NEWTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Calhoun County Area Law Enforcement Underwater Rescue Team helped three fire departments rescue four horses in Newton Township yesterday.
The horses escaped their enclosure and wandered onto an icy pond at Turtle Creek Golf Course, and the ice gave way.
They became trapped in the shallow water shortly before 9 a.m.
All four were successfully rescued and were not injured.
