Eugene, Ore. — Senior center Carson Cooper scored a career-high 19 points and No. 10 Michigan State used a big second half run to beat Oregon, 68-52, on Tuesday night at Matthew Knight Arena.
Cooper hit 8-of-10 shots from the floor and 3-of-4 from the free throw line, while grabbing seven rebounds and blocking four shots to lead three players in double figures. Junior forward Coen Carr added 15 points and eight rebounds and redshirt sophomore guard Jeremy Fears scored 14 points and handed out a game-high five assists.
Michigan State, winners of five-straight games, improves to 17-2 overall and 7-1 in the Big Ten Conference, while Oregon falls to 8-11 overall and 1-7 in league play.
Michigan State returns home this weekend, hosting Maryland at the Breslin Center on Saturday, Jan. 24.
The game will air live on CBS (noon), with Ian Eagle, Bill Raftery and Robbie Hummel calling all of the action.
