KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Temperatures in the teens, snow, and gusty winds are contributing to make the start of the week a challenge around southwest Michigan.
Kalamazoo County is under a Winter Storm Warning until 7:00 a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Services says additional snow accumulations between two and four inches is expected, bringing the storm total amounts to between four and eight inches, with winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
Northbound U.S.131 was closed late Monday morning from West Main Street to mile marker 41.5, which included the entrance ramp to the U.S. 131 Business Loop, due to multiple accidents.
A crash involving multiple vehicles caused partial shutdowns of eastbound I-94 near Helmer Road for several hours beginning around 7:30 a.m. Monday.
In Ottawa County, a 100-car pileup happened on westbound I-196 after M-6 near Hudsonville amid heavy snow and windy conditions around 10:30 a.m. Monday morning. The freeway was shut down in the area.
