KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Two weeks from today the City of Kalamazoo will commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a ceremony will be held at Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Park on Rose Street.
The event January 19 will begin with a commemorative walk at 3:45 p.m. at the Metro Transit Building across the street from the park and a wreath-laying ceremony that is expected to begin around 4:15 p.m. in the park.
The ceremony will feature remarks from community leaders reflecting on Dr. King’s life, legacy, and lasting impact. The ceremony will take place weather permitting.
The City of Kalamazoo also recognizes youth that are living the values of Dr. King through service and leadership. Social Justice Youth Awards will be presented by the City Commission at its meeting January 27.
