PLAINWELL, MI (WKZO/WHTC, Dec. 26, 2025) – More details have been disclosed involving a bicyclist who was hit and killed by a vehicle on Thursday night north of Plainwell.
In a statement released on Friday, Michigan State Police troopers say that a 52-year-old Plainwell man was pedaling north on 10th Street south of Miller Road around 7:15 PM when he was struck by a motor vehicle coming up from behind. The driver of that vehicle, a 40-year-old Kalamazoo man who was not hurt in the incident, told authorities that he couldn’t see the bike that didn’t have any lights on, or any reflectors displayed.
The dark conditions was compounded by heavy fog at the time. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have played any role in the crash.
No names were immediately released as the incident remains under investigation.
