EAST LANSING, MI — Michigan State University has launched an ambitious initiative to raise capital for the athletics program. FOR SPARTA will provide Michigan State Athletics the strategic resources for facilities and overall program investment to compete at the highest levels. The initiative has a goal of $1 billion raised.
It includes modernizing facilities throughout the department, including new student-athletes spaces in which to compete and train, and an elevated gameday experience for Spartan fans, according to a press release from the school.
“Spartan Fund donors will enjoy the addition of new premium spaces and options. It’s a comprehensive approach that will include several sport specific facility improvements, as well as shared spaces such as a student-athlete dining facility,” the press release states.
The fundraising drive includes major renovations to Spartan Stadium, Breslin Center and Jenison Fieldhouse (see photo of the futuristic Spartan Stadium above).
“Certainly, $1 billion is an aspirational goal. But Spartans have never backed down from a challenge. Throughout history, Michigan State has been a leader in college athletics, and the time has come to lead once again. This is our chance to instill a greater vision for what we believe to be possible. Through a shared singular goal, we will all experience success. Together, we will build the future … For Sparta,” said J Batt, MSU Vice President and Director of Athletics.
