Peters introduces bipartisan resolution recognizing 50th anniversary of Edmund Fitzgerald wreck

WASHINGTON, DC (WKZO AM/FM) – U.S. Senator Gary Peters of Michigan has introduced a bipartisan resolution recognizing the 50th anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

The freighter sank November 10, 1975 in Lake Superior during a storm and was about 17 miles from the coast of Whitefish Point in the Upper Peninsula.

All 29 crew members aboard died in the shipwreck.

It happened during one of the worst storms ever recorded on the Great Lakes and was immortalized in the Gordon Lightfoot song, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”
