PORTER TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 42-year-old Vandalia man has been killed in a crash in Cass County Monday evening.
The sheriff’s office responded to the crash near the intersection of US-12 and M-217 in Porter Township just after 6 p.m.
James Hettmansperger of Vandalia was eastbound on US-12 when he lost control of his Jeep Liberty, crossed the centerline, and hit the back of a GMC Sierra pickup that was pulling a trailer.
Hettmansperger was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries.
His Jeep came to rest alongside a utility pole after leaving the road.
The driver of the pickup was a 44-year-old man from Elkhart, Indiana. There is no word on his injuries, but he did survive.
