COOPER TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 24-year-old man is in custody for allegedly throwing and brick through a window and breaking into a business in Kalamazoo County’s Cooper Township late Friday night.
Around 11:15 p.m. Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Cooper Market at 8005 Douglas Avenue for a report of a male breaking into the building which was already closed for business.
When deputies arrived, they found that the suspect had used a brick to shatter the glass front door and made entry into the store. The suspect stole several items of merchandise before fleeing on foot before deputies arrived on scene.
After gathering information from the store, they were able to get a physical description of the male and he was located lying down next to a building a short distance away.
The man was taken into custody and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail without further incident.
