WAYLAND, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – One person is dead after a two vehicle crash Wednesday morning on US 131 in Allegan County’s Wayland Township.
Just before 5:30 a.m. Allegan Central Dispatch received multiple phone calls for a multi vehicle accident in the southbound lanes near mile marker 59.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office says there were multiple injuries, including five people who were transported to area hospitals for various non-life-threatening injuries. One person though was found unresponsive on scene. First responders were able to get a pulse back, but the person died of their injuries while enroute to the hospital.
The preliminary investigation shows speed was a factor in the accident. The names of all parties involved are being withheld at this time due to the investigation being on-going and notifications that need to be made to family members.
