ALLEGAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office will receive bullet and stab protective vests for K9 officers Kyro and Zadok.
The vests are expected to be delivered within the next ten weeks.
The vests are being provided by the nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s, Incorporated. The 501(c)(3) charity’s mission is to provide the protective equipment to law enforcement dogs in the U.S.
Vested Interest in K9s, Incorporated has provided nearly 5,900 vests in all 50 states at a value of $6.9 million thanks to private and corporate donations.
They accept tax-deductible contributions of any amount, and say a single donation of $1,050 will sponsor one vest.
Each vest has a value of $1,800, weighs four to five pounds, and has a five-year warranty.
