KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Today is Veterans Day and there will be events and memorial services in the area.
The biggest will be a ceremony at the Custer National Cemetery near Augusta. It will include music, honors, a color guard and a flyover, and begins at 11 a.m.
Ceremonies in Kalamazoo will be held near the Veterans Memorial Bridge at East Michigan Avenue and Kings Highway early this afternoon according to County Deputy Administrator Lyndi Warner.
There will be speeches, music, taps and a color guard.
Fry is a dedicated member of the Kalamazoo County Veterans Affairs Committee, a Marine veteran who led the charge to get a countywide millage passed to fund expanded services for indigent vets.
Veterans can get a free meal today at Hopcat in Kalamazoo, and until 2 p.m. at the Long Island Café in Battle Creek.
